I’m Johnathan Valenzuela and I’m 22 years old. I was born in San Bernardino California and moved to Maui, Hawaii when I was 10 years old.
Skating has been part of my life since I was 6. I grew up watching my oldest brother Street Skate and wanted to start doing it myself! When I was 14 I got my first downhill speed board, which was a Landyachtz Drop Wedge. After that I realized downhill skating was my favorite style of skating, but don’t get me wrong - I love every style of skating. For me skating is my life style, I plan on skating for as long as my body physically lets me. I have had to prove my love for the sport many times. I’ve hit guardrails, had stitches, infected road rash, sprained ankles, popped out both my shoulders several times, and many other crazy injuries too numerous to mention. But no matter how hurt I get, I love the sport so much I always find myself just wanting to be on a board! It’s that one thing that I feel helps keep me most sane in the rough times of my life. At the age of 18 I started throwing Outlaw Downhill Skateboard Competitions to help grow the scene in Maui, Hawaii. I messaged several companies to help support the events and one of the main companies that helped support the competitions, and still helps me to this day, was Riptide Sports. After I had put together a few of the competitions, Riptide became my first sponsor and a year or so down the road, I ended up sponsored by Aloha Skatebords Skate Shop, and Rey Trucks as a Flow Rider as well.
At this point in my life I dream to travel the world to skate as many hills, parks and places that I can. Until then, I will be trying to keep the stoke of the sport every where I go.
